So, like I said last night, this has been a tough week (only made tougher by this annoying cold I picked up today, jeez). The problem about this week is about my college major (I know what you are thinking…NOT ANOTHER KID WHINING ABOUT SCHOOL! Don’t worry, I will try not to be)
Well, let me fill you fine folks in…
Last year, I was a zoology major (“Tigers don’t live in South America, Zoology”). I was only a zoology major because I chickened out and didn’t go to art school for illustration or animation like I really wanted to. In a word (or a couple), last year was terrible. So this summer, after going through a zoo internship, I decided to finally do what I truly wanted and transferred to my university’s art school in hopes of pursuing animation.
And that brings us to this year!
Yesterday, I found out the my school will not give me the training I need to achieve my dream. So, it would appear that I have to leave my current university. But what do I do from here?
So that brings me to where I need help from you! Folks, I really just don’t know what to do. Should I drop out and go to a school in my state (oh ya, I am currently paying out of state tuition)? Should I stay and change to a major they have and I could bare being for the next 2 years? Should I just go all in an go to a California University? Should I just hide under my bed (I am leaning towards this option at the moment)
P.s. Just some odds and ends y’all should know: I have never had any formal training in animation, I just know that I love and am fascinated by animated movies and love to draw. Also, my dad would prefer to get a “well rounded education” so I don’t think plain old art school would be an option (and since he is paying for my education, what he says goes). Um, I think that’s it.
I would soooo appreciate any advice anyone could give me because as I said before, I don’t know where to go from here.
I hope I didn’t lose everyone because this post was so dang long. If not, oh well, I tried.
